About the Role
As an Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) Engineer at ATCO, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our advanced distribution management system. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability and efficiency of our power distribution network.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deploy ADMS solutions to optimize grid operations
- Configure and maintain Outage Management System (OMS) and Distribution Management System (DMS) modules
- Develop and implement algorithms for fault location, isolation, and service restoration
- Collaborate with field operations to integrate real-time data from SCADA and other sources
- Perform system testing, validation, and troubleshooting
- Provide technical support and training to end-users
- Document system configurations and operational procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with ADMS systems (e.g., ABB Ventyx, OSI, GE Grid Solutions)
- Strong understanding of electrical distribution networks and utility operations
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, or similar scripting languages
- Experience with SCADA, GIS, and OMS integration
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation in Alberta
- Experience with utility cloud platforms and cybersecurity best practices
- Knowledge of IEC 61850, DNP3, and other utility communication protocols
