Assemble and wire electrical control panels for industrial food processing equipment, working from schematic drawings to ensure high-quality, safe, and functional builds.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Control Panel Builder to join our dedicated manufacturing team at DC Norris & Company Ltd. As a key member of our electrical department, you will be responsible for assembling, wiring, and testing electrical control panels for our range of food processing and industrial equipment. You will work from detailed schematic drawings and ensure that all panels meet our high standards of quality, safety, and functionality. The role requires precision, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving to support our production schedules and customer requirements.

Your daily tasks will include interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, mounting and wiring components such as PLCs, VSDs, relays, contactors, and terminals within enclosures. You will also perform point-to-point continuity checks, carry out functional testing of completed panels, and identify and rectify any wiring faults. Collaboration with engineers and project managers to resolve design or installation issues is essential, as is maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Adherence to all health and safety regulations, including safe isolation procedures, is mandatory.

• Proven experience as a Control Panel Builder or Electrical Panel Wirer in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings
• Strong knowledge of industrial control components (PLCs, VSDs, relays, contactors, terminals)
• Hands-on experience with hand tools, crimping, and wiring techniques
• Basic understanding of electrical safety and safe isolation practices
• Excellent attention to detail and quality of workmanship
• Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
• Physical capability to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods
• Relevant electrical qualification (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent) is desirable but not essential for the right candidate
