We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Director of Biopharma Data Science to lead our data science team in leveraging advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI to solve complex challenges in biopharmaceutical development. In this role, you will define the data science strategy, manage a team of top-tier data scientists, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including biologists, clinicians, and software engineers. You will drive the development and deployment of predictive models, interpret high-dimensional biological data, and ensure that our data science initiatives align with business objectives and regulatory requirements. • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the data science roadmap, identifying high-impact opportunities to apply machine learning and AI to drug discovery and development.
• Team Management: Recruit, mentor, and lead a diverse team of data scientists, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and scientific rigor.
• Technical Oversight: Guide the design and implementation of advanced analytical models (e.g., deep learning, NLP, multimodal learning) on proprietary and public biomedical datasets.
• Collaboration: Partner with research, clinical, and commercial teams to translate business needs into data science projects and ensure actionable outcomes.
• External Engagement: Represent Owkin at scientific conferences, publish research findings, and contribute to open-source projects to maintain our thought leadership in the field.
• Compliance: Ensure all data science activities comply with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) and ethical standards.

• PhD in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computational Biology, or related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in data science, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the biopharma or healthcare industry.
• Proven track record of applying machine learning and AI to biomedical problems, such as drug discovery, clinical trial design, or biomarker identification.
• Deep expertise in Python/R, SQL, and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Strong understanding of biological data types (e.g., genomics, proteomics, medical imaging).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and MLOps best practices.
• Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals is a plus.
