About the Role: As an Engineer In Training, Mining at Teck Resources, you will be an integral part of our Highland Valley Copper Operations team. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in open-pit mining operations while contributing to safety, productivity, and sustainability initiatives. You will rotate through various departments, including mine planning, operations, and technical services, building a solid foundation for a successful career in mining engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the design and optimization of mine plans, including drill and blast designs, haulage routes, and waste dump management
• Support day-to-day operations by monitoring production metrics, equipment performance, and ore grade control
• Conduct field inspections and data collection to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards
• Participate in short- and long-range planning activities, collaborating with geologists, surveyors, and operations teams
• Analyze operational data to identify efficiency improvements and cost reduction opportunities
• Contribute to safety meetings, risk assessments, and incident investigations
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for management review

Learning and Development:

• Engage in a structured mentorship program with senior engineers
• Access to in-house training on mining software (e.g., Vulcan, Deswik) and technical skills
• Opportunity to pursue professional registration (P.Eng.) with support from the company

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited university
• Eligible for registration as an Engineer In Training (EIT) with a recognized professional engineering body (e.g., EGBC)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Python, or R)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and adapt to changing priorities
• Valid driver's license and willingness to work in a remote mine site environment
• Basic knowledge of mining software (Vulcan, Deswik, or similar) is considered an asset
