Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Hotel Engineering Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair, and operation of all engineering systems and physical infrastructure at Sutton Place Hotels in Vancouver. As a key member of our management team, you will ensure that our facilities meet the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and guest comfort.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the hotel engineering team, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance technicians
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for all building systems, equipment, and guest rooms
• Plan and oversee capital improvement projects, renovations, and upgrades
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards
• Manage the engineering budget, including labor, materials, and contract services
• Coordinate with other departments to minimize disruptions during maintenance activities
• Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and emergency situations
• Maintain inventory of spare parts and supplies
• Prepare and maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, and equipment warranties

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field preferred
• Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering management, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting
• Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and elevators)
• Proven leadership and team management abilities
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, and energy management practices
• Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed
