As a Lead Software Engineer / Developer for Mission Systems at HENSOLDT, you will be at the forefront of developing real-time, embedded software solutions for advanced sensor, radar, and electronic warfare systems. You will lead a team of engineers through the entire software lifecycle—from requirements analysis and architecture design to implementation, testing, and integration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and quality.
• Design and develop mission-critical software in C++, Java, and Python for embedded platforms.
• Collaborate with systems engineers and hardware teams to define software requirements.
• Ensure software reliability, security, and performance in accordance with industry standards (e.g., DO-178C, MIL-STD).
• Manage agile development processes, including sprint planning and code reviews.
• Contribute to technical proposals and roadmap planning for future mission systems.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum 8 years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership role
• Strong proficiency in C++ (C++11/14/17) and Java; experience with real-time operating systems (VxWorks, Linux)
• In-depth knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, and version control (Git)
• Familiarity with defense/aerospace standards (DO-178B/C, ARINC 653) is a plus
• Excellent communication skills and fluency in German and English
• Ability to obtain security clearance (due to defense projects)
