Lead the design and implementation of scalable cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines at EchoStar, driving platform reliability and automation across global satellite communication systems.

We are seeking a Principal DevOps/Platform Engineer to join our dynamic team at EchoStar. In this senior role, you will architect and manage the infrastructure that powers our global satellite services, ensuring high availability, security, and efficiency. You will collaborate with engineering, product, and operations teams to define platform strategy, automate workflows, and drive continuous improvement. This is a remote contract position offering the opportunity to work on innovative projects that connect millions of users worldwide.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and building scalable, resilient cloud infrastructure using IaC principles
• Implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for microservices and containerized applications
• Leading incident response, root cause analysis, and post-mortem processes
• Establishing monitoring, alerting, and observability standards across the platform
• Mentoring junior engineers and promoting DevOps best practices
• Evaluating and integrating new tools and technologies to optimize platform performance
• Ensuring compliance with security and data privacy requirements

• 8+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering roles
• Deep expertise with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Pulumi)
• Strong proficiency in containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)
• Solid scripting skills (Python, Bash, Go) and understanding of configuration management (Ansible, Chef)
• Knowledge of monitoring, logging, and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
• Familiarity with security best practices and compliance in cloud environments
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
