As a Principal Embedded Software Engineer and DevSecOps Specialist at Collins Aerospace, you will drive the integration of security practices into the software development lifecycle for embedded systems used in defense applications. Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement secure embedded software architectures for real-time systems.
• Establish and maintain DevSecOps pipelines, automating security testing, code analysis, and deployment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed security into requirements, design, and testing phases.
• Conduct security assessments, threat modeling, and vulnerability management.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of security-first development.
• Support system certification and accreditation processes with government customers.

Working Environment: This role is on-site in Cedar Rapids, IA, with potential for limited remote flexibility. You will work in a secure facility with cutting-edge technology and collaborate with experts in aerospace and defense. Travel may be required for customer meetings or team events.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field; Master’s preferred.
• Experience: 10+ years in embedded software engineering with 5+ years in DevSecOps.
• Clearance: Active Secret security clearance required.
• Skills:
  • Proficient in C/C++, Python, and embedded Linux.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of security standards (NIST, RMF) and static/dynamic analysis tools.
