About the Role

Big Viking Games is seeking a visionary Principal Engineer, Agentic Products & Workflows to lead the design, development, and scaling of next-generation intelligent systems. You will own the technical direction for agentic architectures, autonomous workflows, and AI-driven product features that redefine how players interact with our games and platforms.

In this role, you will collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and engineering leaders to create self-optimizing systems that enhance user engagement, streamline operations, and unlock new revenue streams. You will be hands-on in architecting robust, event-driven microservices while mentoring a team of senior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement agentic frameworks that use reinforcement learning, LLMs, and real-time decision engines.
• Lead the development of autonomous workflow pipelines that reduce manual intervention and improve game economy balance.
• Establish best practices for observability, fault tolerance, and scalability of agent systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product roadmaps and technical milestones.
• Drive innovation through prototyping new interaction patterns (e.g., AI co-pilots, dynamic world generation).
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code in Python, Go, or similar languages.
• Conduct design reviews and code reviews to ensure high-quality deliverables.

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with at least 3 years in a principal or staff engineer role
• Proven expertise in building agentic AI systems, including planning, tool use, and memory management
• Strong background in workflow orchestration (e.g., Temporal, Airflow, or custom DAG engines)
• Deep understanding of event-driven architecture, microservices, and async processing (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or Java; familiarity with TypeScript is a plus
• Experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, open-source models) and prompt engineering
• Track record of shipping high-scale production systems serving millions of users
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence without authority
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, or equivalent practical experience
