As a Senior Platform Architect at Zendesk, you will design and lead the development of scalable, high-performance platform solutions that power our customer service software. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product, and operations to define technical strategy, ensure system reliability, and drive innovation in cloud-native architectures. Your expertise will guide the evolution of our platform to meet the needs of millions of users globally.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect and implement robust, distributed systems using microservices and serverless technologies.
• Define and enforce best practices for software design, coding, testing, and deployment.
• Lead technical discussions and architectural reviews to ensure alignment with business goals.
• Mentor senior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence.
• Evaluate and adopt new technologies to improve platform performance, security, and cost efficiency.
• Partner with product teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Develop prototypes and proof-of-concepts for new features and platform enhancements.
• Monitor system health and performance, driving continuous improvement.

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in an architectural role
• Deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Strong background in designing high-availability, fault-tolerant distributed systems
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, Go, Python)
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Cassandra, Redis)
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (Terraform, Helm), and monitoring tools
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with ability to influence technical decisions
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; Master's preferred
