Sky is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Release and Triage to manage software releases, lead incident coordination, and ensure seamless deployment of streaming and media services for millions of users across the UK.

As a Senior Software Engineer in the Release & Triage team at Sky, you will be responsible for orchestrating the release lifecycle for our flagship streaming platforms and ensuring rapid response to production incidents. You will work closely with development, QA, and infrastructure teams to plan, coordinate, and execute deployments across multiple environments.

Your role will include:

• Designing and improving release processes to minimize risk and downtime
• Leading release coordination meetings and post-mortem reviews
• Managing and automating triage workflows for critical incidents
• Collaborating with engineers to identify root causes and implement preventive measures
• Building dashboards and monitoring tools to track release health
• Mentoring junior engineers and promoting a culture of reliability

Sky's technology stack spans microservices, cloud-native architectures, and high-availability systems. You will have the opportunity to influence architecture decisions and drive automation that directly impacts millions of customers.

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on release management and incident triage
• Strong proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI)
• Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with monitoring and alerting systems (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog)
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to lead high-pressure triage calls
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and infrastructure as code (Terraform)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work across engineering, QA, and operations teams
• Experience with incident management frameworks (e.g., ITIL) is a plus
