Symmedia GmbH is looking for a Senior Software Engineer & Technical Owner to lead the Service Case Management domain, driving technical strategy and implementation for our industrial IoT software platform.

As a Senior Software Engineer & Technical Owner in our Service Case Management team, you will take end-to-end ownership of the case management domain within our industrial IoT platform.

Your responsibilities:

• Define the technical roadmap and architecture for service case management features
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices using modern Java/Kotlin and cloud-native technologies
• Collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, and other engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions
• Lead code reviews, mentor junior developers, and drive engineering best practices
• Ensure high availability, performance, and security of the case management system
• Contribute to continuous integration/deployment pipelines and automated testing

Tech stack you will work with:

• Java / Kotlin, Spring Boot, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, Docker
• Cloud platforms (AWS or Azure)
• Frontend integration via REST/GraphQL APIs

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• At least 5 years of professional experience in software development, with a focus on backend services
• Strong expertise in Java or Kotlin and Spring Boot framework
• Experience with event-driven architectures and message brokers (e.g., Kafka)
• Deep knowledge of database design and optimisation (SQL and NoSQL)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI) and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Proven ability to own a product domain and drive technical decisions
• Fluent in English; German is a plus
• Experience in service case management, CRM, or ticketing systems is advantageous
