As a System Engineer in our Digital Solutions R&D team, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining the digital infrastructure that powers our cutting-edge mRNA research and development. You'll work closely with scientists, IT architects, and external partners to ensure high-availability, secure, and scalable systems that accelerate our mission to revolutionize medicine. Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and manage IT systems including servers, storage, and virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
• Support and optimize R&D-specific applications and databases (e.g., LIMS, ELN, laboratory data management)
• Implement and enforce cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive research data
• Automate routine tasks using scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash) to improve efficiency
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate digital solutions into existing workflows
• Troubleshoot system issues and provide Tier 2/3 support for R&D environments
• Document system configurations, procedures, and change management processes
• Participate in on-call rotation for critical system incidents

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
• 3+ years of professional experience as a System Engineer or similar role, preferably in a regulated R&D environment (e.g., pharmaceutical, biotech)
• Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux server administration
• Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V) and storage systems (SAN, NAS)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS) and hybrid infrastructure
• Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
• Understanding of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, firewalls)
• Experience with IT security best practices and compliance (GxP, GDPR, ISO 27001) is a strong plus
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team
• Fluent in English; German language skills are advantageous
